About This Project

PALM BEACH ESTATE

In America, beginning in the late 1800’s, the Shingle Style home represented the beginning of the quintessential “vacation home” – evoking a sense of family and leisure. It affords a setting for comradery and relaxation for those just visiting and for those living there full time. There’s a lot of shingle style homes in the Hampton’s for instance, but not in Palm Beach. That’s what made this project so unexpected and unique. In Palm Beach, you have a lot of Mediterranean, Regency, Bermuda, etc, but this was basically a Hampton’s style home in Palm Beach, and that’s what made it so fun to work on this project. ~Joan Simonsen-Hickok
